Kevin Annett, born in Edmonton, Canada in 1956, is a former United Church of Canada clergyman who gained international recognition for his efforts in exposing the dark history of the residential school system in Canada. His work has been pivotal in bringing to light the suffering and injustices faced by Indigenous peoples in these institutions.

Annett’s journey as a whistleblower began in the mid-1990s when he served as a minister in the United Church. His discovery and subsequent exposure of the church’s role in the residential school system led to his dismissal from the ministry and sparked a broader investigation into the matter.

As a writer, filmmaker, and broadcaster, Kevin Annett has dedicated his life to human rights activism, particularly focusing on the rights of Indigenous peoples. He has authored several books on the subject, including “Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust,” and has produced documentaries that shed light on these issues.

Annett’s work extends beyond Canada, as he co-founded The International Tribunal of Crimes of Church and State. He has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in human rights advocacy.
