David Fitzgerald, born on December 26, 1964 in Clovis, California, is an American author, public speaker, and atheist activist known for supporting the Christ Myth theory, which challenges the historicity of Jesus. A graduate of California State University, Fresno, Fitzgerald has made significant contributions to contemporary atheism and religious criticism.

He serves on the boards of the San Francisco Atheists and the San Francisco branch of the Center for Inquiry. Additionally, Fitzgerald is the director and founder of the first Atheist Film Festival and San Francisco’s oldest Darwin Day celebration, Evolutionpalooza. His speaking engagements have included roles with the Secular Student Alliance and the Center for Inquiry.

Fitzgerald’s notable self-published works include “Nailed: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed at All” (2010), “The Complete Heretic’s Guide to Western Religion Book One: The Mormons” (2013), and the “Jesus: Mything in Action” series (2017). His writings offer critical perspectives on religious doctrines and historical narratives, contributing to the discourse on religion and mythology.

Residing in San Francisco with his wife, writer and producer Dana Fredsti, Fitzgerald continues to be an influential figure in the atheist and secular communities.
