Universtiy of Colorado biology professor, and author of, The Emotional Lives of Animal discusses his research into animal emotions, and the controversy surrounding research suggesting animal consciousness.
Del Mar, CA, March 12, 2008 – Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews science researcher and author, Dr. Marc Bekoff, for a discussion on whether animals have emotions, and the implications for how we treat and protect the rights of animals.During the 30-minute interview Dr. Bekoff responds to the claim that animal behaviorist anthropomorphize their observations:
"..... it's like that whole thing on anthropomorphic double talk. Why is it anthropomorphic to say an elephant is in pain, but it is not anthropomorphic to say they she is feeling good... sorry, that just doesn't work any more"
Dr. Bekoff also offers his analysis of Ruper Sheldrake's experiments into dog telepathy and discusses the challenges of doing controversial research in an academic setting.

Alex Tsakiris is one of a group at www.OpenSourceScience.net interestest in replicating the "dogs that know" research of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake. This research examines whether dogs can telepathically anticipate when their owner's are coming home. Despite Scientific and acecdotal evidence, many secintists remain skeptical of these capabilities. Researchers hope to overcome this skepticism with their new findings
